One of the crown jewels of Chico is Bidwell Park, a sprawling 3,670-acre oasis right in the heart of the city. This park is divided into two main sections: Upper Park and Lower Park, each with its own unique charm. Are you ready for another Chico hiking adventure? Today, I'm excited to introduce you to the Yahi Trail, a hidden gem that offers a serene escape into nature, just minutes away from downtown Chico.

The Yahi Trail is a relatively short but rewarding hike that spans approximately 2.5 miles. It's named after the Yahi people, a Native American tribe that once inhabited this region, and it provides a glimpse into Chico's rich cultural history. The trailhead is conveniently located in Upper Bidwell Park, making it easily accessible. As you venture deeper into the trail, you'll be surrounded by lush vegetation, including oak and pine trees, which provide a refreshing canopy of shade during the warmer months.

One of the highlights of the Yahi Trail is the opportunity to connect with nature and spot local wildlife. Keep an eye out for deer, squirrels, and a variety of bird species that call this area home.
